South End Penthouse
South End, Boston, Massachusetts
BEAUCHER & LEA architecture created a home for contemporary urban living in one of Boston's most vibrant neighborhoods. A conventional 1,100sf floor-through condo, last renovated in the 1980s, was transformed into an urban oasis for a professional couple. In the two-story entry hall, steel railings custom fabricated by a blacksmith tie the language of the vintage skylight to the clean lines of the new maple railing. The kitchen and baths were entirely gutted and new granite countertops, birch cabinets, stainless appliances as well as a custom wine bar were installed. Italian glass mosaic tile completes the bathroom.
