Boston, Massachusetts

A married couple relocating from Manhattan to Boston retained BEAUCHER & LEA architecture to totally rethink their duplex penthouse condominium. Located in Boston's prestigious Back Back neighborhood, the project included total replacement of the existing roof deck and failed roof, gut-renovating two existing bathrooms and the kitchen, adding a new half bathroom and new mechanical and electrical systems. The existing and very outdated 80s style interiors were entirely replaced with a rich palate of materials and Zen quality inspired by the client's Asian heritage.

New open kitchen with cooktop and range hood over new island.

New kitchen was relocated to opposite end of space. All appliances and storage was integrated into a continuous wall of cabinetry running the entire length of the lower floor of the duplex.

Refrigerator and drawer dishwasher are opened revealing their function behind custom cabinetry.

New kitchen countertop overhang is supported by custom fabricated steel brackets which match the stair.

New fireplace surround and new gas fireplace insert.

New glass openings were created to allow light to move from living room to office beyond.
