Updating a Victorian in Jamaica Plain - Boston, MA
A vintage late 19th century Victorian home in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston needed updating. The existing 19th century kitchen and bathrooms were gutted to the studs and replaced with victorian inspired cabinets and fixtures including paneled cabinets and an apron sink. A new master suite and new bathrooms were added within the existing envelope. The design of the master bathroom reflects the modern aesthetics of the homeowner with double vessel sinks, Rosewood and tile flooring, modern fixtures and custom, frameless glass shower enclosure. Custom fabricated in Oregon out of Port Orford Cedar, an ofuro (Japanese soaking tub) was also integrated into the master bathroom. The existing character of the home was respected with the exterior being repainted and restored as new and modern spaces were added within to meet the needs of the new homeowners.
