Steven J Beaucher, A Professional History

In 1998 Steven J Beaucher graduated from the Syracuse University School of Architecture, receiving a Bachelor of Architecture. He studied at the University's Florence Italy Campus and traveled extensively throughout Europe.

While attending Syracuse, Steven's professional development in architecture began at Paul Lukez Architecture. By 2000, he had returned as a full-time project manager assisting directly in the firm's growth into a larger office in Somerville, Massachusetts.

At PLA, Steven was immersed in high-end residential design working directly with clients and contractors. He also participated in the firm's progressive environment where research into current architectural issues, from affordable housing prototypes to maximization of space in contemporary residential design, directly informed the project designs. One home Steven worked on was published in Sarah Susanka's book entitled "Building The Not So Big House".

Steven's professional development in architecture continued as a full time designer at Donham & Sweeney Inc. Boston. From 1998 to 2000, Steven collaborated on project teams gaining a keen knowledge of "public bid" work, while designing fire and police stations for municipalities in Massachusetts. Steven worked on the Andover (MA) Police & Fire Headquarters among others.

From 2002-2005, Steven was a project architect at ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge. At ARC, Steven was independently responsible for the design and construction oversight of multiple athletic facilities projects for the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

At ARC, Steven also worked with large project teams to design bio-medical research laboratory and office facilities in Worcester, Massachusetts as well as technically challenging pharmaceutical production facilities in Puerto Rico.

In 2005, Steven moved on to concentrate full time on high qualitty residential and commerical architecture, expanding his already successful firm STEVEN J BEAUCHER design, which he had run since 1998. Partnering with Dorchester architect Katharine Lea, Steven created BEAUCHER & LEA architecture to offer complete architectural services in residential and commercial design, condominium conversions, as well as product selection and procurement among other services.

Steven Beaucher has taught design studios and has lectured at the Boston Architectural Center. He has been a guest juror for architectural design reviews at the Boston Architectural Center as well as Wentworth University in Boston.

Steven has passed his 9 professional exams and is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
